Support groups help to address health and wellness with an overall goal of improving quality of life. The objectives are to develop and bolster self-esteem and body confidence, increase ability to self-advocate for essential services, reduce isolation by building peer supports and develop a balanced relationship with food. Groups provide a safe environment so that discussion and education on various topics related to disordered eating, self-esteem and body image can be relayed. The goal is to provide strategies to carry forward beyond the group so that individuals can maintain and improve upon positive mental health.
